“Leave the financial planning to the experts…” -Founder of FinCocktail
It’s the year 2020. Women have become more than just mothers, sisters, wives, and daughters in law. They also are doctors, lawyers, engineers, and entrepreneurs. They are constantly breaking the glass ceiling everywhere, yet, women still utter the words “Let’s leave the financial planning to the experts.” What is it about the world of finance that makes it so scary? Why do women shy away from taking their own financial planning into their own hands and take ownership of their wealth? Why do they insist on leaving it to the “experts”?
A recent study1indicates that only 1 in 3 women actually do their own investing. What is more shocking is that overall only 11% of women take their own financial investment decisions because they want to or know what is going on. The rest (~22%) do this because of extreme circumstances including a death in the family or divorce! Should women-only be taking care of their own personal finances in case of such dire circumstances? As women have been fighting for their independence in every field, should they not find their financial freedom?
The funny thing is, women are so afraid of talking about money or being wrong that they avoid the topic altogether. Honestly, who are we kidding? Women made that money right? They worked hard for it! They burnt the midnight oil for it! They dealt with politics at work! They dealt with working
through sick days and not taking enough holidays! They dealt with fighting with their families for the right to work before or after marriage! They still deal with managing their home and work life while still feeling guilty if they leave their child at home! So why should someone else be making the decisions?!
FinCocktail aims to bridge this gap between women and finance. The name FinCocktail was inspired by the fact that Finance as a term can become too scary, daunting, overbearing! FinCocktail wants to help women of all ages to shed their fears and embrace personal finance. They hope women will
take charge of their own money and FinCocktail aims to help them mix the perfect finance cocktail that will help them towards a bright and secure financial future!
