Interview with Shweta Nandakumar | A celebrity fashionista

We invited Shweta Nandakumar, a celebrity fashionista for an interview with Most Popular Stories to know more about his entrepreneurial journey.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey as an
entrepreneur:

I am a corporate employee by profession, A celebrity fashionista by Passion and a Model by Hobby, “Fashion is my Passion” Fashion has been in me with me for a long time and due to various hurdles I wasn’t able to persuade it as a full time career then. However as time ticked with a rollercoaster journey of financial ups and downs I chose to pick up a job in corporate firm starting from a backend support in a call center to a PR in a small firm to a service desk executive to Client engagement completing it in a mark of 2 decades now!



2. Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a job?

My passion drives me harder than my excuses, well I still haven’t chosen it over by job, blessed with a corporate job I get my weekends to completely focus on my passion,

3. What was the vision behind it?

Always wanted to have my brand and label in the Fashion industry and that’s the Genesis of label “SAND” Style & Design( A whole range of ( Signature Corporate attires – Kalamkari ))
 – from the Brand Shweta Nandakumar.


4. Describe the services that you offer to your customers and in what
way they are unique?

I Am into Bespoke designing for every occasion to every age group and every Gender. I bespoke the entire requirement to the client in a way the client would have never imagined. This will include accessories add On’s and many more – My USP is a total re-wardrobe of the fabrics they wish to have or already has!



5. What difficulties which you have faced or you are facing?

Well the challenges have always be in terms of convincing how different it is from a tailoring shop 😊. Bespoke goes a long way much more than the tailored stuff.

6. How do you handle the pressure and manage stress?

To be frank the last thing I think of is stress- I have always believed things don’t get better by worrying about them.



7. How do you market your business?

I chose to be the face to my own brand for a simple reason if I cant carry what I bespoke how can I convince someone else- Just getting into the shoes you See!

8. How many hours a day do you work on average & can you
describe/outline your typical day?

12- 13 hrs – My day starts with regular House chores and I login to my corporate job for 8 hrs post which is my passion time for about 4 hours and then end my day with an hours workout just to keep myself fit before I hit the bed.

9. In your opinion what are the keys to success?

Well there are many – I just didn’t wish for it, I worked for it.

  • Never be demotivated with the opinion of others
  • You have to taste failures to taste success
  • disappoint people who want to see you fail

10. What advice would you give to someone starting out as an aspiring
entrepreneur?

Everyone wants to be successful but then it’s more important to have Clarity on what they chose, Remember- “when the ‘what is clear’ the ‘How is easy’ “
