We talked to Sridevi Shiriyannavar, Founder and CEO of 2017 founded Lycka group in an interview with MostPopularStories to know more about her entrepreneurial journey and the challenges that she faces as an entrepreneur

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey as an entrepreneur
Im energetic, enthusiastic, organized and an ambitious entrepreneur who wants to create jobs in our society. I started in 2011 working in the b2b sector as an assistant to sales and marketing Head. Then the same company started a new venture of Trading and consulting and I was promoted as International Trade Merchant 2014 where I learned about the sourcing of products/services and how to import products and export from India and it gave me an opportunity to meet/ networking business people across the world.
Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a job?
I realized that for growth stepping out of one’s comfort zone was needed and my job back then was secure and stable. So I decided to start something of my own but to take this decision. I almost took a year and it was a huge step. It was uneasy and scary, Yet I made it.
What was the vision behind it?
My vision was simple – I wanted to build my reach across the world and provide jobs to people.
Describe the services that you offer to your customers and in what way are they unique?
I have two companies – Lycka India Trading Private Limited, a trading firm, and MyBusinessLeague – a platform for a wide range of services and products coming under the Health & Fitness category. It’s unique because you don’t see any exhibition with so many service providers and product manufacturers under one roof.
What difficulties which you have faced or you are facing?
When I started Lycka India Trading Private Limited in 2017, I had to start working from scratch. The legal hassles like Company registration and bookkeeping were hard handling as a team initially, but we eventually figured out a strategy for our business.
It was hard to connect with people as you are new in the market and people don’t know you and everyone always underestimates emerging young businesswomen. With time and efforts and the services, Lycka have given,people are happy, they trust us.
As they say -Anything comes easy, isn’t worth having.
How do you handle the pressure and manage stress?
Stress is a part of any work. I am a practical person and I try to give my 100% and stay positive. I believe that if we put our soul and heart in doing something, I’m sure of achieving what I want. I don’t believe in stressing out I rather put the energy in belief in what I do.
What is one strategy that you believe has helped you grow as a person/startup?
I’m confident and I always make sure we have a plan. We all learn from our mistakes and mistakes are very important. Whatever business we think of doing today we always have a competition but always remember and believe if we have good products and great service and a plan, we will have our set of our customers for sure.
How is your company is helping India to grow?
My company is an import-export firm, we source most of our products from India and we will be introducing a product which is made in Germany for the Indian military. We are in talks with the energy storage companies to manufacture their products in India and we export Agri products from African countries.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
Dedication, positive approach, and hard work. I realized that short cuts to achieve success don’t exist. We need to sweat it out.
What advice would you give to someone starting out as an aspiring entrepreneur?
I am not a big entrepreneur to advise, I am still growing the seed but I believe that one day I will get what I want. A piece of advice out of my experience – be confident and focus all your positivity to get what you want and the most important thing is to work hard
