We all have heard the phrase that a bad beginning always has a good end, and this turned out to be true in the life of Haji Ajmal Ali, a small farmer during the 1940’s from Assam whose quest to search Oud, an aromatic scent derived from the agarwood tree finally led him to become the country’s largest supplier of a wide variety of perfumes. Ali, after collecting a generous amount of Oud, shifted to Mumbai during the 1950’s and became a prominent supplier of Oud over there. But, he didn’t want to limit his life simply as an Oud supplier.
As a result of this, he started combining different types of fragrances with each other, thus, creating a wide range of perfumes one after the other and finally Ajmal Perfume came into being in 1951. Currently, Ajmal Perfume has more than 300 products in their range-line and is spread across 36 cities in the entire nation with over 240 outlets. The farmer who started a small endeavor has now turned into the one of the largest single-branded perfumery in India while enjoying its online presence over 40 ecommerce sites as well. When asked to Saurav Bhattacharya, the President of the Operations sector, NHA division of Ajmal and Sons, India branch, he said that, in 1976, Mr. Ajmal Ali shifted his Mumbai to places like UAE and Dubai.
Mr. Bhattacharya also told that they are trying their level best to incorporate international fragrances into their perfumes against the cost of affordable price options. The prices charged for their products can be as low as 400 and can be as high as 4000 as well. Mr. Bhattacharya also shared that, they are using digital marketing as the biggest tool to educate their customers about how to choose mind-boggling perfumes according to their personal preferences. Their Mumbai NHA division is currently consisting of 190 team members in total. Customer satisfaction is their biggest priority and Ajmal Perfume along with its team of stalwarts are constantly trying to spread awareness amongst the masses about how important it’s to smell good just the way we look good. They are currently working with various types of channels like ecommerce, modern trade wholesale, OEM etc to achieve a worldwide popularity shortly.
