With a history of working in the advertising, marketing, and event industry, Shubhangi Gupta, came up with her ventures, Two Do and Two Do Vows. TwoDo has worked with 60 plus brands & Two Do Vows has been a part of 50 plus occasions in the past two years, since its inception. Shubhangi has strong skills in Business Development with Business Planning, Event Management, Photography, Organizational Leadership, and Team Building. The two companies; Two Do is a Marketing firm, while Two Do Vows is a Wedding Management Firm, so both are different. From organizing events to owning up two companies, let’s see what she has to share with us.
1. How was your journey as an entrepreneur?
Entrepreneurship is one thing that I never planned on. During my college days, I was involved in marketing and event managing, mainly organizing events like college reunions, fests, etc. This time, I got spotted by one of my seniors, and then we ended up organizing and marketing an event in the city, Chandigarh.
It was just a stepping-stone of my journey, and from that, one thing led to another, and I started doing marketing. Two Do, and Two Do Vows were never a part of my ambition list. I never thought that I would come up with something like this.
2. Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a job?
While I was growing up and being around people, I always heard of corporate jobs but I only learned about entrepreneurship only when I started dreaming about becoming one! There are many reasons why I chose entrepreneurship over a job or I can say, entrepreneurship chose me. The idea of using your creativity to build something rather than taking the stress of working for a living is what attracted me initially. Then came the concept of freedom; whether it is in terms of working hours or making decisions for your company. Entrepreneurship is independence- I am my boss and I have full control of the situation at the workplace. Also, I can strike a better work-life balance and there is a higher scope of personal and career growth. With so many good things (and the list goes on), how could I not choose entrepreneurship!
3. What is the reason behind starting this company, Two Do Vows?
Both companies are different; Two Do and Two Do Vows. The reason behind coming up with Two Do (Marketing Company) was the fact that many start-ups fail to understand the importance of marketing, especially the power of social media in marketing campaigns. The world is changing; our strategies need to change accordingly. So, now businesses are realizing the importance of making their presence felt on Facebook or Instagram and Two Do help them leverage the power of social media in brand development.
However, when we started this, our idea is to help them understand the thing and offer them marketing at such prices that it does not feel like an extra burden. We want them to know how essential it is and also make sure that including marketing in their budget will not feel like a big thing. It is not like you have to spend too much on marketing always. We wanted to make it more feasible for everybody.
Two Do Vows is also the same thing but of course, in a fresh perspective. As many people think hiring a wedding planner is a luxury, with Two Do Vows, we aimed to make it an essential and affordable luxury. It is a way to have much more fun at your wedding functions and letting other people do the job.
4. What are the services you provide under Two Do Vows?
Here, we provide end-to-end event services and take care of production, planning, conceptualization, execution, coordination, management, etc. We look after anything and everything when it comes to an event, mainly when it is a wedding. But we also pick up occasions, like anniversaries, birthdays, etc.
5. What are the difficulties that you have faced in your journey to entrepreneurship?
Well, the first and the only challenge is “acceptance”. I believe if you’ve won this challenge, then no other thing can stop you from being a successful entrepreneur. Being a young entrepreneur, I had a hard time making people believe what we can do. But the good thing is, once the job was done, it boosted the trust in clients and they still count on us. It is hard to win the trust of people especially when you are new to the business, but then gaining their trust feels like an ultimate victory. That feeling cannot be explained in words.
6. How do we handle the pressure and manage stress?
I should say I am blessed with a great team. Thanks to them, I do not get a lot of pressure. Everyone in the team does their work as required and mainly takes off the pressure. Other than that, if you try and take a break, it helps you release the pressure. I have realized that taking pressure will not help in any way, so it’s better to keep calm and work. Switch off from work and take an hour’s rest or give a day to yourself, and it is one thing that will help you get out of pressure.
7. How do you market your business?
Usually, it comes from word of mouth. We have worked with 60+ different brands in the last two years. It helps in fulfilling the marketing aspect, most of our work comes from references of people with whom we have already worked. That’s how we get our work.
8. On average, for how many hours you have to work, and can you outline your typical day?
Usually, I work 365 days because you cannot be off even on a Sunday when you are in a business related to social media. And if you see, most events happen on Sundays as it is an off day for people. Last year’s Diwali, we had to host four-event parties, so we did not have even a day off (technically). But if you talk about a day off, which can be on a Monday. So, mostly, I feel like we work round-the-clock as handling two companies is difficult as you have to coordinate two different things with two different teams.
9. Can you define the keys to success, in your opinion?
In my opinion, it is love for your work that will help you work more and to be successful. If you do not love what you do, there is no way you will be happy. I want to say that if you want to do something, then you really must have a good team to rely on.
10. What advice would you like to give someone starting as an aspiring entrepreneur?
The first thing is never to say no to anything, this has worked very well for me. Whenever something came my way, I never said no to it, and that’s why I found what I wanted to become; and that’s an entrepreneur. So, if someone says, let’s do this, I was always ready; at least to understand what the work is all about. If you want to start something on your own or figure out where this is going, just don’t stop. There will be a point of time when you start saying no, as that will be filtration of what you don’t want to do. Also, now you know what you want to do and work towards that.
This is what our entrepreneurship, Shubhangi Gupta, founder at Two Do Vows, has to share. We wish her all the luck in her future endeavours!
