If today, the name 24 Media Films Pvt.ltd has a familiar ring in filmmaking internationally as well as in India, it is largely due to the quality and variety of work accomplished for our clients. And we are grateful to them for giving us this opportunity to prove ourselves again and again in the last two decades.
Going into flashback, it was in January 2002 that I decided to take the uncertain path by starting a business in Pune. Though computers had already begun making their presence felt in all fields of work then, the multimedia or the digital media as we know today, was still in the nascent stage and conventional media that include Print, Radio, Television, and Outdoor were the first choices for most corporate and production companies to communicate with their target audience and were high-earners for media agencies.
Equipped with formal education, a Diploma in filmmaking and animation, pursuing a Master of Arts, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and about four years of work experience, I decided to chart a different course.
It was a conscious decision as by then I was pretty certain that the other option of continuing with the job would only take me so far as any employment allows. Entrepreneurship gives you the freedom to do away with those limits.
Initially, I began meeting prospective clients to get a feel of the market. This worked both ways as the clients also got to know of multimedia as a feasible option and consider it in their scheme of things.
Soon, the assignments began trickling in. However, I did not see them as assignments per se but as opportunities to innovate and excel; going beyond the immediate brief and setting technological benchmarks for the evolving medium.
Back then, it was tempting to dabble in all media for immediate gains like most of our peers did, but my vision was to stay focused on the new medium and grow with it.
This strategy paid off hugely when early in the life of the company, the United Nations selected us to document their international meetings globally. It was a strong validation of our expertise and a reward worth all the risks I took in getting that far.
The association with the global organization continued for three years and it readied us for the next phase of growth.
With fast-changing technology and more companies vying for the market-share, I foresaw content to be the differentiating factor in the coming decades.
That early realization coupled with being among the first movers in the industry has made 24 Media Films the most preferred name for documentaries, brand films, product films, promotional films, and even motivational films using a mix of animation, graphics, and video shoot.
24 Media Films Pvt. Ltd. was awarded as the Best Corporate Film – Jury Award at the 5th Indian International Advertising Festival 2016.
It goes without saying that we invest substantially in human assets as much as the technology by engaging with the best available talent and offering them enough space to explore their potential and meet their aspirations. This shows in our final deliverables which in turn have helped build long-term relations with all stakeholders and earn recurrent and referral businesses.
A day at 24 Media Films is marked with multi-tasking and multi-site assignments with factors both within and outside our control weighing heavily on our heads. It calls for a lot of project management skills as the stakes for both the client and us are high. This is when experience matter as much as expertise in pulling off the tasks within the committed budget and deadlines.
Our clients hail from across the industrial spectrum including FMCG, Manufacturing, Finance, Information Technology, Automobiles, Corporate as well as Public Figures. We have been successful in establishing ourselves in the international market too with clients from the US, Europe, Middle East, and Japan.
I have always measured success in terms of the satisfaction achieved for our clients, employees, associates, and vendors as filmmaking is a team effort and every stakeholder has a definite role to play.
My advice to aspiring entrepreneurs would be to never wait for an opportune moment, as there never will be one, and then take on the challenges that come your way without compromising on your integrity. It’s a difficult hat to don but nevertheless, worth donning.
