Children are the assets of any nation and if they are diagnosed with a deadly disease like leukaemia, then it’s certainly a major threat for the future generation. Leukaemia Crusaders founded by Monica and Arvind in 2013 exactly aims to eradicate a deadly ailment like leukaemia amongst kids in the nation. Monica says that when their 14-year old son got detected with leukaemia, a special type of blood of cancer that disrupts the production of RBC’s in the body, the couple had pledged that they won’t allow blood cancer to impinge the life of any other child out there.
Both Monica and Arvind are career enthusiasts, the former being the owner of Gionee whereas the latter has worked in famous companies like in HCL and Reliance. The journey which started as a small endeavour has successfully cured 1475 children suffering from leukaemia. Monica says they have tied up with some of the major hospitals in India like Tata Medical Centre in Kolkata, Apollo in Chennai, and AIIMS in Delhi etc. When a couple belonging to the downtrodden section of the society comes to any of these hospitals and the disease is ascertained as leukaemia, they are referred to Leukaemia Crusaders and actions are taken immediately by their team of 6 members. The treatment cost varies between 30, 000-75000 as told by Monica.
Since, there is a lack of awareness amongst mass, Leukaemia Crusader is also making the best of its endeavours to organize awareness campaigns across the nation to inculcate more and more awareness about this deadly disease amongst the general people. Even when today a family approaches their organization with their child being detected with leukaemia, Monica and her hubby can relate to the crucial phase they have gone through until their 14 year old son Aaryan recovered completely.
Monica also said that they don’t want any child to die abruptly due to a ravaging disease like blood cancer, especially leukaemia, and don’t want money to become the major constraint in the way of its effective treatment. Hopefully, Leukaemia Crusader will become successful in creating a leukaemia free nation within the next couple of years.
