We invited Abhishek S Chauhan, Founder of Iessentialss, for an interview with Most Popular Stories. Let’s get to know about his entrepreneurial journey.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey as an entrepreneur.
After completing my studies, I got placed in one of the biggest fast-moving consumer goods companies in Australia, Woolworths. I worked there for around three years and learned about customer satisfaction and the detailed working of a corporate society. After returning to the motherland, I started a company that dealt with making signages and safety equipment for roads, carrying forward the legacy of my dad along with my brother. But after getting stuck at home due to lockdown, the importance of E-Commerce, and the unavailability of a sustainable platform for the growth of indigenous artisans at a satellite location.
www.iessentialss.com came into play and gave me a chance to give back to society. Since then, I have been working hard on this project to empower women, small and micro-businesses that are working hard for sustaining tribal art, organic, and other herbal products. It is my version of saving the lost art and giving a revival to mother earth.
2. Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a job?
The monotonous life of corporate society boosted me to be an Entrepreneur. The idea of creating my path without risking anyone else’s work and giving back to the community and Mother Earth were the key motivating factors. Being an Entrepreneur is being the boss of yourself. Every profit and every loss is yours. It’s your skill that speaks.
3. What was the vision behind it?
E-Commerce saw a massive boom after the reported pandemic of 2019. Moreover, after observing mega E-Commerce platforms, I was unable to see any space dedicated to small and micro-businesses. So, with the rise of opportunity, my vision was to develop a sustainable E-Commerce platform for those who deserve appreciation and recognition. It would also help in saving those lost arts and tribal arts.
4. Describe the services that you offer to your customers and in what way they are unique?
We will be providing a marketplace for Indigenous artisans products so that they can get space to flourish their business and keep the original work and products alive. It will be an excellent place for the customers and the producers to interact with each other. And the artisans will get deserved credit for their work, and making them financially independent.
5. How do you handle the pressure and manage stress?
Usually, I do not get any stress or pressure while managing. But even if anything gets to my head, I refresh my thought process by watching some YouTube videos. Not only YouTube but many other social media platforms like Instagram help in relaxation. Moreover, I utilize this relaxation time in working on a market strategy for bringing up my venture.
6. How do you market your business?
Marketing plays a crucial part in development. My target is to identify my USP (Unique Selling Proposition) and reflect the exceptional service of my website (iessentalss.com). My market research commences from social media, where I get a crystal view of the market. Also, taking notes of competitors and upcoming brands that support small and micro businesses have been helpful.
7. How many hours a day do you work on average & can you describe/outline your typical day?
Usually, I work around 10 to 11 hours each day. My day starts at 6 AM as I am a morning person. Then I go for a walk and do some moderate exercises, including yoga. Although due to this pandemic situation we are captivated in our homes and doing work from home. I typically start working at 8 AM/9 PM. Between my day, I take some YouTube breaks. And both YouTube and Instagram have been helping me to research ongoing trends in terms of new products or platforms launched along with google. Also, during my daily work, my typical job consists of researching for any new upcoming brand for small and micro-businesses. Or if someone is coming in the market with unique products that coincide with our theme of MADE IN INDIA and sustainability.
8. In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
According to my dedication and loyalty towards your passion is the key to success. Moreover, one rule that I stand by is doing hard work and having a belief in the power of ultimate divinity.
9. What advice would you give to someone starting as an aspiring entrepreneur?
I am not a business guru, but I can say that any person aspiring to be an Entrepreneur must challenge himself every day and believe in his/her work as your vision will help you in taking actions and overcoming every fear leading you to be victorious.
