We invited Tasneem and Fatema- Co-Founders of Light Minds Company for an interview with Most Popular Stories. Let’s get to know about their entrepreneurial journey
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey as an entrepreneur.
It all started with a dream. Since our young, naive days, our minds always traveled the extra mile. You have to have an undying passionate belief in your idea and yourself. That’s what we believe in, here at Light Minds. Business-minded people, we tried our hands at numerous businesses. Plans didn’t materialize but we didn’t lose hope. Hard times come and go, but people with strong mindsets have the tenacity to weather any storm.
After undergrad, we worked in different jobs, which was quite a learning experience. Later on, decided it’s time to step up our game and do something of our own to which both agreed immediately. We quit our jobs and kept it a secret. This gave birth to the holy “Light Minds”. Both of us knew talk is cheap and it’s the action that speaks volumes and boy, did we act. We knew, no matter what calamity unfolds, we knew we got each other’s backs. We complemented each other, completed each other, helped each other grow.
After a lot of brainstorming and building up from scratch, we became experts at multitasking. After compiling a handful of data, clients, with a lot of trial and error, with honest work, we are where we are today.
2. Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a job?
We always had a knack and drive for entrepreneurship, rather than working a typical job as we are in the driver’s seat of our own finances and it comes with seriously awesome perks. Childhood friends and also co-founders, we always dreamt of doing it together, owning a business together. Even tried to sell samosas at one point!
3. Describe the services that you offer to your customers and in what way they are unique?
We’re problem solvers, providing end to end digital marketing needs. Right from social media marketing, content writing, graphic designing, email marketing, and everything else digital. We have successfully launched several brands, helped many startups and small businesses grow, and putting them on the map.
4. What difficulties which you have faced or you are facing?
The media industry thrives on contacts but we had an absolutely fresh start as we were completely on our own. Neither did we tell our friends and families about our venture. But we knew, as entrepreneurs, we ought to devise creative solutions to combat every roadblock in the way. No problem is unsolvable, failure was not an option. The virus as it affected several small and well-established businesses, we too faced the brunt of it. Although we specialize in launching startups, we are not too far
away from a startup ourselves. But we still overcame the obstacles which in the end, paved our way to success.
5. How do you handle the pressure and manage stress?
We both are each other’s support system. When push comes to shove, the other swoops in and saves the day. We also take breaks which is important for your mental health. Sometimes, a pizza and a movie are just what you require to unwind and reward yourself after a whole day of hustle and bustle.
6. How do you market your business?
Our work speaks for itself. Although our social media drive and presence are not as massive as of yet, word of mouth has been our main source of marketing. Our honest to God’s work was perpetually appreciated by our clients. They delightedly spread the word for us which we believe is a great form of generating goodwill.
7. How many hours a day do you work on average & can you describe/outline your typical day?
At the start of our entrepreneurial journey, we worked our socks off which consisted of long hours with no breathers. As we progressed, the situation got better. Yet we hustle and grind, don’t take things light and breezy. Always put our hearts and soul into our work and it shows.
8. In your opinion what are the keys to success?
Success is subjective, our idea of success is – customer satisfaction, mental peace, financial freedom, personal growth, owning our office, landing our first international client by ourselves. We not only give our clients satisfaction but also provide them with an experience. You should do what you love and love what you do.
9. What advice would you give to someone starting out as an aspiring entrepreneur?
Going with the flow or winging it, doesn’t work all the time. You want to have a plan panned out. Making mishaps is alright, own up to them. Don’t make the same mistakes, make new mistakes.
Our idea of success is not something fancy, it’s the little things like owning our office, making clients happy, landing our first international client. In a rushing, busy world, one should also stop and take the time to smell the roses. It’s not about the destination, it’s the journey.
