- Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey as an entrepreneur
I’m a 22-year-old freelance journalist and writer. I’m currently pursuing my Mass Communications. I was born and raised in Bangalore but recently shifted to Mumbai.
I’d like to believe that my journey to becoming an entrepreneur has just started, and I’m constantly learning new things every day which I could incorporate for the plan I have for The White Letter. It was solely used as a personal website back in August 2015 until I revamped it to a creative arts group.Â
- Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a job?
As a college student who was doing various internships in the field of media, I realized there’s a lot of potential in me and people of my age. But most of the times we often lack the platform and the correct medium to express ourselves and these ideas.
Getting a job didn’t seem ideal back then, as I knew I’d feel caged and that was the right age to experiment with an idea so close to my heart as I had nothing to lose but lots to learn from this process.
- What was the vision behind it?
When I revamped it to a creative arts group, with a tagline of ‘You are the color’, it was used to celebrate art in its truest essence, in all varieties, with no restrictions whatsoever.
We wanted to allow artists of all kinds to showcase their art and provide a safe space free of all kinds of pressure and judgment- something imperative for artists just rising up above the surface.Â
- Describe the services that you offer to your customers and in what way they are unique?
We curate and conceptualize various events from scratch. No, we aren’t just an event management company, but it is a part of our strategy. We still are a creative arts group that focused on reviving the arts field in India.
They are unique because we try to come up with creative event ideas that haven’t been done before. You can check out more on our Instagram page (www.instagram.com/thewhiteletter.in)  to know about our previous events.Â
- What difficulties which you have faced or you are facing?
I believe there will always be difficulties, but getting yourself out of it is the most important part, instead of thinking about the problems. I think one of the difficulties faced before, was being taken seriously at meetings because of my age.
But over time our work spoke more and we got over this. However, once I shifted to Mumbai, managing between my personal work and the group has been a little difficult.Â
- How do you handle the pressure and manage stress?
I think I work best while there’s pressure. But we all need to know when to draw a line when things get too much. Taking breaks is really important to manage the stress, so planning out vacations, going out to spend time with family and friends or just simple long drives soothe me. I also maintain a schedule for work, which makes my job easier because if I stick to my deadlines then it won’t lead to procrastination and would help finish the work accordingly.
- What is one strategy that you believe has helped you grow as a person/startup?
The one strategy that has helped me and the company grow would definitely be the idea of tolerance and being open to new ideas. If one can listen to others we not just learn a lot but understand people more in general, which is really required in this field of work.
This helps in leading a good life as well because we need to listen well first to react and respond. So with all the numerous amounts of meetings I’ve learned that these skills matter the most and not only make others comfortable around you but you learn how to be inclusive as well.Â
- How your company, The White Letter is helping India to grow?
I think we’re doing a small bit in providing a safe space for people to express themselves, whether it’s through our events or the digital space. One thing we do is try and be equal to anyone that approaches us with new ideas and help take it forward.
- In your opinion what are the keys to success?
In my opinion, consistency is key. If you’re doing your best, with ample amounts of handwork and trying to manifest your goals turn to reality. That is being successful.
Being patient is also important because sometimes being successful won’t happen overnight. So believing in yourself is the most important reason behind your success.Â
- What advice would you give to someone starting out as an aspiring entrepreneur?
I’ve always said this, that anyone who has an idea, shouldn’t wait for the right time. Many people do that, thinking they’re too young, old, or don’t have the time, and other reasons which are just holding them back from their own growth.
My only advice would be once you find your true calling, don’t let the moment pass and just take it forward. All the best!Â
