We invited Durlabh, Founder of Barosi for an interview with Most Popular Stories to know more about his entrepreneurial journey.
What makes Barosi much progressive is its sustainable farming philosophy, which connects individuals like us to the local, dependable rural farms. They are also supporting and helping rural farms to develop and speak to them in urban areas and urban zones!
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey as an entrepreneur.
I am a first-generation entrepreneur, born and brought up in a village of Uttar Pradesh. I have completed my Diploma in Mechanical Engg from PUSA, Delhi. After completing my Diploma, I worked with Eicher Motors Ltd and M&M for a total of 12 years. During my corporate journey, I have also completed a course from IIM Lucknow in General Management.
My journey as an entrepreneur has been incredible. Every day we experience new challenges and new opportunities to learn and grow. Both successes and failures prepare you for the future. In a nutshell, I have experienced highs, lows, accomplishments, hunger, anxiety, hope, and rejections which have been part of the journey.
2. Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a job?
I have chosen entrepreneurship because I like to be in control. I like to make my own decisions; it keeps us moving whereas, in a job, there is a fixed pattern and boundaries where an individual has to perform.

At the start, our objective was to provide unadulterated, farm-fresh milk to the urban consumers. We have gradually increased our horizon, now we want to become the largest online FMCG food brand in India.

We produce and deliver authentic, homegrown food products. Quality and Authenticity are our motto & USP.
5. What difficulties which you have faced or you are facing?
Genuine business partnerships are difficult to make, for me business works well when both parties enjoy mutual benefits for longer period of time. Whereas I find people who take short cuts or opt for unethical practices to grow fast.

In an extreme pressure and stress situation, I leave the things as it is for a day or two. As, every day is a new day it provides new opportunities and new solutions to those situations.
7. What is one strategy that you believe has helped you grow as a person/startup?
The approach on being frugal & working on unit economics reduces the chances of failure if you are in an unknown territory.
8. How your company is helping India to grow?
We are building a homegrown online FMCG food brand. In rural areas we are building farmer networks to procure the best quality produce from them. We also train the farmers to embrace technology which includes Fintech, quality assurance, and distribution.
We are creating employment in all verticals i.e. Agri, Operations, Sales & Marketing, Brand and Technology.
We are a proud Indian food brand and take pride in the “Indian-ness” of our products and services.
9. In your opinion what are the keys to success?
Keeping a positive attitude and persistent efforts to solve the problems.
10. What advice would you give to someone starting out as an aspiring entrepreneur?
Embrace Success and Failure equally, they are an integral part of the journey. Be ready to run a marathon where you need to overcome the challenges and wait for the right opportunity.
