We invited Deepesh Yadav, Co-founder of Pepspot for an interview with Most Popular Stories to know more about his entrepreneurial journey.
Pepspot is a party services platform that lets you book a space for house parties and other events, along with all the prerequisites for parties like food, drinks, music & much more.
- Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey as an entrepreneur
Since my childhood, I used to read a lot of success stories of people like Enzo Ferrari, Ettore Bugatti, Ratan Tata and got inspired by what they’ve achieved. And it will always ignite my desire of doing something of my own.
I studied engineering in Mechanical and Automation from Amity University then worked for a few engineering companies but my entrepreneurial journey started at the beginning of the year 2019. I was working with a BPCL venture, but I wasn’t satisfied with the work at all. The notion of independence and autonomy in doing the work was missing, So I resigned from the job.
I and my childhood friend (Pranjay) thought about starting a data storage venture a few years back but dropped the plan. Now I had time so we started researching some of the business ideas that we had, but nothing turned out to be compelling enough. After a few days, one of our friends invited us to his birthday party. For the stayover after the party, we all have decided to book a few rooms in a hotel and that was the day when the inception of the idea about Pepspot happened.
Pranjay came to my place and discussed and explained the idea to me. We immediately agreed that this is something people like us needed, a platform where people can book house party venues along with all the party prerequisites.
- Describe the services that you offer to your customers and in what way they are unique?
House parties have their own charm, but the hassles to organize a house party are very tiring and time-consuming. With Pepspot people can now bid adieu to all their worries and become the perfect host by booking the house party venue (as per their requirements) in the city.
These venues are party-ready, equipped with all the party prerequisites like music system and karaoke. Guests can book other party services as well, be it live-music, catering, theme decor, and whatnot. We believe in creating happiness and this makes us happier.
- How do you handle the pressure and manage stress?
I like working under some stress to keep me motivated with the challenge. My work has made me a patient man. I think the best way that I’ve found to keep balanced in the face of impending over-stress from a difficult situation is to look at the facts and to be patient, keep an objective, impartial point of view, rather than getting pulled into my opinion.
- What is one strategy that you believe has helped you grow as a person/startup?
The strategy that helped us grow as a business is the belief in our idea. This is something I love to do every day. This is not something I’ll get bored of, after some time. The smile on the faces of our customers is a high source of motivation for us. We know what we are capable of and what we want to create. Our goal is to disrupt the party space in the world and redefine the way people party.
- In your opinion what are the keys to success?
For me, the key to success is hard work. Only working smart is not the solution. There should be hard work in smart work. Give your best and the outcome will be best. Don’t do it because you have to, do it because you want to. The more you will apply the more you will achieve.
- What advice would you give to someone starting out as an aspiring entrepreneur?
Try experimenting with things rather than sitting and thinking what if it does not work out. If you have something on your mind, go for it. Don’t worry about the failures, because risk-taking is always better than regretting.
