With more than 300,000 new cases appearing this week, it is one of the deadliest parts of the pandemic. Amidst all of the chaos, a well-known Pune-based startup known as MyLab Discovery Solutions has been innovating and creating innovative solutions. Let’s take a look at what they came up with.
MyLab PathoDetect Qualitative PCR Kit for COVID-19
The Polymerase Chain Reaction or PCR kit is one of the most formidable tools in the hands of testing agencies right now. The PathoDetect COVID-19 PCR testing kit made by MyLab became the very first commercial toolkit to receive direct approval from the CDSCO or Central Drugs Standard Control Organization. MyLab has started to send this PCR testing kit all over India so that proper testing can be done. It has also established mobile testing stations all over the place so that citizens can get themselves and their loved ones tested at an affordable price.
Months and Months of Hard Work For a Fast Rollout
Hansmukh Rawal, the Managing Director of MyLab, said that the entire team worked day and night for months on end so that they could achieve a fast rollout of the PCR testing kit. One of their proudest accomplishments is the mobile van solution – which is going to enable thousands of successful COVID-19 tests in a single day. In fact, MyLab has deployed 50 such vans all over India, which have been certified and tested by NABL and ICMR. This is a point-of-care solution that will meet the large testing demand.
Scaling Up and Empowering Safety Through Their Existing Inventions and Innovations
MyLab is also one of the first startup companies in India who have managed to ramp up the existing inventions and innovations that they have in stock. MyLab also managed to launch two separate products to scale up testing – the PathoCatch COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Testing Kit and Compact XL, which is a machine that automates the PCR testing process. In March 2020, MyLab also teamed up with Serum India and AP Globale to ramp up its production. Their processes can now take care of 6-7 lakh tests per day.
