The story of Vikram Singh is indeed inspiring and is a tale that should be firmly ingrained in the minds of all budding entrepreneurs! The origin of an innovative idea and the booming success it tasted is indeed inspiring, isn’t it?
After obtaining his engineering degree in E&C from MVIT, Bangalore, in 2004, Vikram Singh began his professional journey as an Operation Specialist at IBM. After working there from 2004-to 2005, he pursued his MBA in HR and Marketing at SIBM, Pune, from 2005 to 2007.
He cracked the campus placement opportunity there and went on to bag a position at Infosys Ltd. He worked there from 2007 to 2010 before becoming a manager at Eva Mall with the Prestige Group. He was in this position from 2010-to 2011.
Following these prestigious positions, he secured a role in HR and Recruitment at Altran Tech. He worked there as a manager from 2011 to 2013. However, these clerical positions did not quench his thirst for becoming an entrepreneur!
Instead of further climbing up the political ladder, he quit his role and began his own venture – Goli Vada Pav at Brigade Metropolis, Mahadevpura, Bangalore. This role provided him with vast opportunities to make all his dreams come true!
Taking up the position of the CEO of this company proved to be challenging indeed for Vikram Singh. He single-handedly managed the company and many staff personnel who helped propel this venture to receive widespread acclaim!
His main motto was to take up responsibility for all his actions, both good and bad. He did not shy away from increasing his workload and the responsibilities that came along with it. The ultimate aim of this venture was to provide a one-stop-shop for everyone’s evening refreshment requirements. Therefore he offered the following products:
- Vada Pav
- Tea
- Lemon Juice
- Soft Drinks
According to Vikram Singh, leadership is best paired with the following factors – zero ego and complete humility. He states that these characteristics enabled him to become a well-rounded leader who tasted success consistently.
Some of the primary challenges that he faced in his entrepreneurial journey include:
- Marketing
- Fast Delivery
Making good offers to his customers and staff was the solution he came up with to tackle these challenges. It helped him build his reputation, which led to positive word-of-mouth marketing! Quite ingenious, isn’t it?
He also stresses immensely on the need to be good friends with one’s competitors to sustain in the business, be it any industry. These traits helped him steadily build his business and carve a niche for himself.
After crossing several notable milestones, he concluded his setup in 2019. He states that he learned a lot through his position and wanted others to take up the same role and learn as well.
