The founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates has announced his separation from his wife Melinda Gates. The couple has confessed to the public on Monday that they no longer wish to stay together and planning to switch to divorce. The duo said despite trying hard to save the relationship they realized it won’t be possible, however, no decision related to financial separation has been confessed till yet.
In the year 2000, the couple together started a foundation called Gates Foundation, which has been recognized as the world’s largest charitable foundation today. The organization has the main focus on public health, education and climate change.
The association had a net worth of $ 43.3 billion till the year 2019. Reportedly, Gates have announced that they both will together work for the organization as they did earlier despite breaking up the knot of their relationship. According to the website of Gates Foundation, Bill Gates and his wife, Malinda Gated have donated $29 billion since 2016 to this organization.
However, the financial spits are yet unclear and not yet confessed by them. The reports say, the Gates couple is seeking division of their joint assets as per the agreement submitted in the court.
The couple had posted their confession on the social media platform, Twitter saying, “After a great deal of thought and lot of work on the relationship we have decided to end our marriage, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy productive lives.”
There has also been a statement saying, the two will remain co-chairs and will continue to work together to shape the foundation.
Furthermore, in the joint petition filed by Bill Gates and Melinda Gates, the couple has asked the Seattle Superior Court to divide the assets as the approval for the dissolution of their marriage.
On the other hand, Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft has announced that he is going to step down from Microsoft’s board so that he has all his focus left and he can concentrate on the work of the foundation. Wife, Melinda Gates has been turning her focus to women and girls and attained Scott’s support in a $40 Million gender equality fund that is due to make its first award shortly this year. This divorce has been recognized as one of the high-profile divorces.
